WE'RE HIRING!

The Crofton Police Department is currently seeking Lateral Police Officers who are currently certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission, (MPCTC).

1) All lateral applicants must have completed Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) recruit training and the required field training objectives.

2) Current Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission, (MPCTC) is required. You are also eligible to apply if you were certified as a Law Enforcement Officer within the last three (3) years from the date of hire to the Crofton Police Department with at least three (3) years of continual service and you separated in Good Standing from your previous law enforcement agency.

3) You must have worked for a Full-Service Law Enforcement Agency in the State of Maryland. NOTE: A “Full-Service Law Enforcement Agency” is any agency which meets the requirements listed is Public Safety Article Title 3- Law Enforcement Subtitle 2- Police Training and Standards Annotated Code of Maryland. Title 3-201.(d) (1) “Law Enforcement Agency means a government police force, sheriff’s office, or law enforcement organization

of the state, a county, or a municipal corporation that by statue, ordinance or common law is authorized to enforce the general criminal laws of the state.

*Lateral Officer with less than 7 years of service

The position offers a competitive starting salary of $64,725 (July 1, 2024)

With a comprehensive Health Plan to include Dental and Vision, Short- and Long-Term Disability. Additional benefits include Life Insurance, a S.E.P (Simplified Employee Pension) retirement plan, $3,000 retention bonus (after one year of service) a car allowance of $3,900 per year ($150 paid bi-weekly) and an additional 40 hours of vacation leave upon completion of the field training period.

*Lateral Officer with 7 or more years of service

Starting Salary of $64,725. At the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period and Chief of Police approval, eligibility for promotion to the rank of Corporal. Salary will increase $67,891 with a comprehensive Health Plan to include Dental and Vision, Short- and Long-Term Disability. Additional benefits include Life Insurance, a S.E.P (Simplified Employee Pension) retirement plan, $3,000 retention bonus (after one year of service) a car allowance of $3,900 per year ($150 paid bi-weekly) and an additional 40 hours of vacation leave upon completion of the field training period.
